NORTH FORSYTH — A north Forsyth community is coming together Sunday to honor a young man who recently lost his battle with cancer.

Priscilla Pruitt, a resident of the Crystal Cove community, said a celebration and walk will honor David Eaden, who died at age 24 in January after a six-year fight with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

“He had said before he passed away that he would have liked to have done a Hodgkins walk,” Pruitt said. “He wound up going downhill really fast after he got sick this last time.”

The event will begin with a community celebration, including a cookout and games, at 3 p.m. and continue with the walk at 6 p.m.

“We know that we have around 77 people planning to come out already,” Pruitt said. “And almost every one of them at some point or another in their life has lived in Crystal Cove. And to me that just means so much because it shows the closeness.”

While most of the participants likely will be neighbors, all Forsyth residents are welcome to take part. Participants will be able to buy a T-shirt, with all proceeds from the sales going to the Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Research Foundation.

But mostly the event is about honoring Eaden. “Really it’s just to think of him,” Pruitt said.
