Table tennis enthusiasts, get ready. Another Normans Landing ping pong tournament is coming your way. The restaurant is holding its annual fall ping pong event at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday to benefit the American Red Cross. Normans Landing owner Bill Norman said the fall tournament generally brings in a decent crowd. We have anywhere from 35 to 45 players on the first day and then 25 to 35 for the doubles tournament, he said. Mens and womens singles are scheduled for Wednesday night, while doubles tournaments will be held Thursday. All tournaments are single elimination. Norman said he spent time a few weeks before this tournament calling about 250 past tournament participants. Norman said a returning ping pong champion from Kanas City will be in attendance, as well as some players from Buckhead. Entry fee for all events is $15. Normans Landing ping pong tournaments have raised more than $60,000 for local charities and organizations since they began. Local organizations like Young Life of Forsyth County often frequent the events as well as many local high school students. We just try to keep getting the word out, Norman said.
