Forsyth County Master Naturalists unveiled the first of several new signs along the Big Creek Greenway on Saturday.
In honor of Earth Day, a group of the naturalists gathered at the Fowler Park trailhead to explain the significance of the signs and to hold a ribbon cutting for the first one.
The full-color “storyboard” signs focus on native trees and the wildlife they support.
So far, nine of the signs have been installed by the group, which focuses on preserving and protecting the area’s natural plants and wildlife.
The signs were funded by businesses and residents, and donations are still being accepted for future signs.
Anyone interested in helping with the project can contact the Forsyth County Cooperative Extension Office at (770) 887-2418.
