The Forsyth County Cumming library, located on 585 Dahlonega Street, will be temporarily closing to undergo renovations.

The library made the announcement in a press release Friday.

The hiatus will last for seven weeks, from Monday, Oct. 14 through Sunday, Dec. 1, as the library gets new carpet, paint, tile, fixtures and lighting for shelves. Some of those features haven’t been updated since 2007, according to the library.

The renovation will be funded in part by a Major Repair and Renovation (MRR) grant from the state.

To prepare for the close, the Friends Bookstore, an organization part of the Cumming library, has been running a half-off sale to clear inventory. They will be closing a week earlier than the Cumming library on Monday, Oct. 7.

All books and materials checked out of the Cumming branch after Sept. 30 will be assigned a due date after the library reopens.
