The Forsyth County Arts Alliance will again be awarding $50,000 in grants to local artists and organizations this year.

This is the fourth year the alliance has offered the grants with the goal of enriching the quality of life in the community by connecting people to the arts.

Previous grants have gone to artwork along the county's Big Creek Greenway, to Forsyth Central High School’s drama department, and to bring musicians to perform for patients at Northside Hospital-Forsyth.

Applications will be accepted through May 27 and funding will be available in July. Letters of intent to apply for grant money are due by April 27.

To help with the process, the alliance will offer a free workshop with instructions for artists and organizations interested in applying for a grant.

The workshop, set for 10 a.m. to noon March 24 in the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce's board room, is not mandatory but will offer helpful tips.
