While lots of local couples likely made memories for the new year, Satya Mukkavilla and Phani Peddis likely have the rest beat.
Mukkavilla and Peddis’ son, whose name is still being decided, was the first baby born at Northside Hospital Forsyth in 2019. Baby Peddis, as he is currently being called, was born at 2:35 p.m. on Tuesday, weighing 8 pounds, 2 ounces and measuring 20.5 inches.
Mukkavilla said the couple was “very excited” to learn their first child was also the first of the year since his planned due date was more than a week away.
“My water broke just after midnight, and I couldn’t really believe it since my due date wasn’t until Jan. 10,” Mukkavilla said. “Having a new year’s baby was the furthest from our minds. We thought we had at least nine more days to finalize our baby’s name. But we will decide on it for sure by tonight.”
Peddis said he was thankful for the Northside delivery team and when asked what he was most excited about having a new baby, said “everything.”
“Being able to have the opportunity to raise someone who is totally dependent on you is a major responsibility, and we are so excited to raise our little boy,” he said.
