Forsyth County's newest park is set to debut Feb. 25.
Fowler Park, on Hwy. 9 near Castleberry Road, will open to the public after an 11 a.m. ribbon cutting ceremony that Friday.
The 85-acre property, comparable to Central Park in size, boasts new features and amenities not available at other county recreation sites.
A skate park, designed by the renowned Wally Hollyday, will be the county's first.
The park will also add more space for athletics. Among them: a track; four baseball fields; six courts each for basketball and tennis; and six soccer/lacrosse fields.
A United Futbol Academy soccer tournament will break in the new artificial turf field on opening weekend.
Some other features at Fowler include a paved walking trail that winds through the woods, the county's largest pavilion, access to the Big Creek Greenway and a 5-acre passive area ideal for large events.
The county may hold the first outdoor event with a community day in April.
