FORSYTH COUNTY — A recent gathering at Deer Creek Shores Presbyterian Church brought together about 75 people for a private viewing of some of the rare Bibles and maps belonging to Forsyth County resident Charles Payette. Payette’s collection — which includes Bibles and other artifacts primarily from the Reformation period, with emphasis on the 1500s and 1600s — is the focus of an ongoing Sunday Lifestyles series in the Forsyth County News. Officiated by senior pastor the Rev. John Martin, the viewing was an invitation-only event that included officials from Columbia Seminary, the University of North Georgia and Georgia Department of Tourism.
