Aurea McGarry’s “little girl dream” came true last month when she won a Southeast Emmy for her television show “Live Your Legacy with Aurea McGarry.”
“I am dumbfounded and thrilled,” said McGarry, who received the award for her episode spotlighting the Noah’s Ark Animal and Children Rehabilitation Center in Locust Grove.
Launched in 2008, “Legacy” highlights nonprofit organizations throughout the Southeast, such as Noah’s Ark or the Forsyth County Humane Society.
“This award is for them,” McGarry said. “This award will be such great publicity for Noah’s Ark, and that’s what makes my heart sing.”
The episode won in the interview/discussion category for outstanding achievement in television programming excellence.
McGarry, a Cumming resident, hopes the award will lead to production of new episodes for the series, including featuring organizations assisting in the Gulf Coast oil cleanup.
“I want to do more, there’s more to tell,” McGarry said.
