SOUTH FORSYTH — A Cumming sports academy will present a community-wide festival this weekend.

United Futbol Academy, or UFA as it is known, will present its second annual Family Fun Carnival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Fowler Park soccer complex.

If rained out, the event will be held at the same time on Sunday.

Admission to the event is free, but activities require tickets, which cost $1 each. Patrons can also buy an all-inclusive wristband for $20 on Saturday or in advance at www.unitedfa.org.

Dan Moleka, UFA’s director of operations, said the organization “wanted to create an event that helped us achieve [our] goals … but also give kids and families an opportunity to have some fun and enjoy the outdoors.”

“This carnival was the ideal solution, and we are looking forward to seeing our UFA family and friends come out to support us at Fowler Park on Saturday,” he said in a statement.

Stacey Brustein, events coordinator for UFA, said the day’s activities will range from games for toddlers, such as a “bubble station” and pick up ducks, to sack races, bungee trampoline and giant hamster balls for older kids.

There will also be “plenty of inflatables,” she said, as well as a water slide, and several soccer-themed activities for all ages, among other activities.

“We will have a ton to do,” she said.

Besides games and activities, the event will also feature more than 20 vendors and some 25 raffle prizes, as well as a variety of food, a DJ, dunk tank and face painting.

According to Brustein, last year’s festival “was a great success … for a great cause” since all proceeds benefit scholarships for students who want to take part in UFA programs but otherwise can’t afford to.

“This year we’re expecting more than 1,100 people,” she said. “It’s open to the public and an excellent time for any age from toddlers to adults.

“It’s a great day that will create tons of memories before school starts.”
