A weekend event will "offer something for every woman," according to organizers.

Garden of Empowerment is holding its first "A Women's Life Expo" on Saturday at Central Park's indoor event facility.

Sue Wilson, executive director, said Garden of Empowerment is a unique, nonprofit group for women.

"We help separated, divorced and widowed women move forward in their lives by offering a wide range of seminars and workshops," she said.

Saturday's event is free and open to all women -- single or not -- and their families.

All proceeds from vendors will benefit Garden of Empowerment offerings, which include a monthly newsletter, mentoring program and "boot camps" for recently divorced women.

"We have something that will appeal to every woman of every age," said Wilson of Saturday's expo.

Among the offerings: free goodie bags with samples and coupons for the first 250 women; several speakers including local Emmy winner Aurea McGarry, an attorney and life coach; door prizes; and free food.

Wilson said the event also will offer several demonstrations throughout the day, including laughter yoga, martial arts and belly dancing.

Nearly 80 vendors plan to attend the event, she said. Most are women-owned businesses or services dedicated to women's health and well-being.

"You can get your skin checked for cancer, then walk down and get a pair of shoes and your handwriting analyzed," she said.

"You go to so many expos that just have booth after booth of the same thing. We wanted to have a big variety, and we do."
