Young orators recognized by Optimist Clubs in Forsyth

FORSYTH COUNTY — Four young middle school orators have been selected to represent Forsyth County in the 2015 Optimist International Oratorical Contest.

They include, from left, Grant McMahon of Pinecrest Academy, Ananya Uday of South Forsyth, Riya Manchanda of Piney Grove and Raymond Qin of Vickery Creek.

They are the finalists in the countywide competition that began with nearly 4,900 students.

The top two girls and top two boys move on to compete in the zone competition.

The local event is sponsored by the Sawnee-Cumming and Forsyth-Cumming Optimist Clubs.

Each of the four won $500 awards. For this year's finals, they spoke on "How My Optimism Will Help Me Press on to Greater Achievements of the Future."
