Local authorities are ready for fun and safety to go hand-in-hand at the 2011 Cumming Country Fair & Festival.

Cumming Police Sgt. Bryan Zimbardi said the department will not have a booth set up, but officers and Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputies will patrol the fairgrounds.

“It’s going to be a really good fair,” Zimbardi said. “As usual, the city is going out of their way to make sure everybody is going to have a good time.”

Parents and children who get separated from each other should go to the nearest officer or deputy. In addition, they can head to the fairgrounds office, where lost items also may be recovered.

Zimbardi asked that fairgoers leave weapons locked in their vehicles or at home and not bring them into the fairgrounds.

Alcohol is also prohibited, he said, and those caught throwing items from rides will be prosecuted.
