The first of Keep Forsyth County Beautiful's two public meetings to review the county's solid waste management plan is on Monday night.

The meetings fulfill a state requirement to perform a five-year update on the 10-year plan, which was adopted in 2004.

The plan addresses garbage and recycling management, as well as educational campaigns.

Comments will be accepted before or during the sessions.

In the meetings, an itemized list of goals will be reviewed. They can be found under chapter 7 of the plan, which is available on the county's Web site, www.forsythco.com.

No new items will be proposed during this time, but some program expansion plans may be dropped due to budgetary concerns, said Tammy Wright, manager of environmental programming.

"We don't want to raise new issues at this meeting that will get in the way of getting these state requirements done," she said.

Monday's session is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Forsyth County Public Safety Complex. The second will be at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 14 in the county administration building.
