Authorities are still searching for the driver of a tractor trailer suspected of hitting a utility pole in downtown Cumming last week.

The pole at the corner of Castleberry Road and Maple Street was struck Jan. 24. The ensuing repairs caused traffic delays over parts of two days.

Because it had to be removed and replaced, West Courthouse Square was closed that afternoon.

The southbound lane of the road was not reopened until the next day, when a crew from the state Department of Transportation had replaced the pole and ensured the traffic light was working.

Cumming Police Sgt. Bryan Zimbardi said authorities are following an anonymous tip on the driver, but have not made an arrest.

Anyone with any information about the truck can call police at (770) 781-2000.
