Forsyth County staff members will hold a public information open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 12 regarding the widening and reconstruction of Old Atlanta Road, from Sharon to McGinnis Ferry roads.

The meeting, which is scheduled for Sharon Elementary School, 3595 Old Atlanta Road, will provide residents an opportunity to ask questions and comment on the proposed design for Old Atlanta Road.

The plan is to widen the two-lane road to a four-lane with a 20-foot raised median, curb and gutter, sidewalks and turn lanes.

The project, which would not begin before 2011, would be funded through 1-cent sales tax money, officials have said.

Written statements concerning the project may be sent to the Forsyth County Department of Engineering, 110 E. Main St., Suite 120, Cumming, GA 30040.

Letters will be accepted until Dec. 12.
