FORSYTH COUNTY — Keep Forsyth County Beautiful has launched a hotline residents can use to report littering.

According to a news release from the county, the number — 1-866- 5-LITTER (1-866-554-8837) — will be answered by Keep Forsyth County Beautiful staff or volunteers during business hours.

After hours, callers can leave a message with their litter concerns. Those who want a response should include a call-back number.

“If possible, we will send a letter to the person who was witnessed littering, reminding them that litter is illegal and costly to the county,” said Tammy Wright, the county’s environmental program manager.

“When we receive a call about a location where litter is a concern, we will look into it and determine if the area qualifies to be placed on a cleanup list.”

According to Wright, the hotline also will serve as an educational tool.

“It will provide us the opportunity to speak with citizens about the cleanup process and the different types of cleanup initiatives and programs in place,” she said.

Keep Forsyth County Beautiful, a local affiliate of the national Keep America Beautiful and state Keep Georgia Beautiful programs, works with government, businesses, schools, civic organizations and residents to improve beautification and recycling and reduce litter.
