Forsyth County News

Authorities are alerting residents to potentially fraudulent telephone calls from someone claiming to be a representative of Forsyth County’s water and sewer department.

The calls have typically been received during evening hours, with the caller demanding credit card payment over the phone.

The county does make courtesy calls to advise customers of an outstanding balance on their accounts. And while it will accept credit card payments over the phone, those are never demanded.

Furthermore, the department does not call customers at night for billing matters.

Anyone who receives such a call is asked to contact the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office at (770) 781-3087.

Customers should never provide personal information such as their account number over the telephone. Those receiving a call should insist the caller provide that information.

Customers who have any questions regarding their water and sewer account should call the water and sewer department at (770) 781-2160.
