The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners will likely have a new head in 2019.

Forsyth County Commission Chairman Todd Levent, who represents District 3, told the Forsyth County News this week that he does not plan to seek the position in 2019, instead deciding to focus on spending more time with his family and business. The chairman is voted on by members of the board each January.

Levent served as chairman in 2017 and 2018. Though Levent will not be chairman in 2019, he will return to the board and was sworn in for a third term last week.

He faced no opposition in this year’s election and has held his seat since 2011.

Levent also sent an email from Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce President James McCoy thanking Levent for his time as chairman.

“You have also been the strongest advocate for business and job growth in the history of the county,” McCoy said. “The results speak for themselves as we have broken records for the second year in a row for job growth and announcements of business relocation and expansion in the community.”
