A Forsyth County man was killed early Thursday in a single-vehicle wreck in middle Georgia, authorities said.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said Daniel Peake, 29, of Drew Campground Road died shortly after midnight Thursday when the 2002 Chevrolet Impala he was driving struck a tree.

The collision occurred after Peake reportedly ran a stop sign at an intersection in northern Bibb.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident. Jones said Peake was pronounced dead at the scene.

“It was a terrible accident and remains under investigation by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Department,” Jones said.
