Local Vietnam veterans are using a donation from a rotary club in the community to help some of their own.
The Rotary Club of North Fulton recently awarded the Chapter 1030 Vietnam Veterans of America in Cumming a donation of $1,350, which will be used for heavy winter coats for homeless veterans.
The check was awarded at a meeting of the club on Dec. 5.
According to a news release, Cumming VVA President Gary Ely said homelessness is a growing problem in the Atlanta area and the group had received the request from the Atlanta Department of Veterans Affairs Homeless Program.
