Local vets invited for talk on VA changes
veterans

The Cumming American Legion Post 307 has invited any veterans wondering how the Department of Veterans Affairs will change under President Donald Trump to join them for a talk with Cynthia Hayes, a field service officer with the VA.

According to a release by the post, the group will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Georgia National Guard Readiness Center located at 100 Aquatic Circle, Cumming.

“Many veterans are not aware of the benefits they have earned and [are] entitled [to] or know how to access the VA,” said John Arant, the chapter’s media officer, in a news release. “Membership in the American Legion can help direct them,” he said. “The American Legion, the world’s largest veterans’ organization, is open to any veteran who has served honorably during a wartime era.”

Hayes invites anyone interested, widows, prospective members, wives and auxiliary to join.
