Hwy. 369 in northeastern Forsyth was shut down for several hours Wednesday morning following a fatal two-vehicle wreck involving a tractor-trailer.

The collision occurred about 9:30 a.m. at Hwy. 369, also known as Browns Bridge Road, and Charleston Park Road near Lake Lanier.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the driver of a westbound Lincoln Town Car was killed after turning left from the highway into the path of the truck.

The state patrol identified the driver as Lee Franklin, 77. His address was not provided.

After the collision, the tractor-trailer left the highway and struck a pickup truck parked in a nearby driveway.

The driver of the the tractor-trailer was not injured, though a passenger was taken to Northside Hospital-Forsyth after complaining of neck and back pain. Their names have not been released.

It was the first fatality of the month on Forsyth County roads, and at least the fourth of 2013. Three people were killed in crashes last month.

A hazardous materials crew from the Forsyth County Fire Department was called to the scene because fuel from the wreckage was running down the driveway toward the house.

Traffic along the busy corridor was turned around in both directions as authorities investigated the crash. The highway reopened about noon.
