NORTHEAST FORSYTH — A man was killed Thursday afternoon when the golf cart he was driving fell 10 feet off a retaining wall and landed on top of him, authorities said.

The man was apparently doing work at a home on Bethel Road near Lake Lanier’s Two Mile Creek Park when the cart went over the wall, according to Robin Regan, a spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Further information about the man has not been released as investigators are still on scene.

Regan said a neighbor reported the accident about 2 p.m. A medical helicopter was en route before being canceled after the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers, the owner of the property is “aware of what happened and is on scene.”

He said the incident appears to be accidental.
