NORTH FORSYTH — Authorities have released the name of the 62-year-old man who was killed Thursday afternoon in a golf cart accident at a home near Two Mile Creek Park on Lake Lanier.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Clyde West of Atlanta drove the cart off the end of the driveway and over a retaining wall at the home on Bethel Road.

The incident, which occurred about 2 p.m., caused the golf cart to flip and fall 11 feet 6 inches, coming to rest on its roof. West was pinned under the cart for several minutes, according to a sheriff’s report.

Hearing the crash, neighbors found West. First responders attempted CPR, but were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said.

According to the sheriff’s office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation completed an autopsy Friday and determined the cause of West’s death was blunt force trauma. The incident has been ruled an accident.

Authorities have previously said West was doing work at the home. According to the sheriff’s report, he had never driven the cart before and was not familiar with how to operate it.
