Mentor Me North Georgia will spare some money for a good cause.
On Oct. 13 starting at 10 a.m., the organization will host Bowl for Kids, a fundraising effort, at Stars and Strikes at 133 Merchants Square. For $25, attendees get two hours of bowling, shoe rental, a t-shirt and pizza.
The donation will go toward Mentor Me’s efforts to match adult volunteers with children ages 6-17, who are looking for a mentor.
“We are very fortunate and extremely grateful to have many community sponsors that help make this important fundraising event possible,” Executive Director Sylvia Cardona said in a news release. “With the funds raised at Bowl for Kids, our organization is able to continue enhancing and growing mentoring programs in Forsyth County.”
Most children in the program come from single-parent homes or live with grandparents or foster parents. Mentors of the same gender share activities with the students, including going to events such as sports, movies, the zoo and musical performances.
“Mentor Me is dedicated to connecting our volunteer mentors with youth and children in need of positive role models who will help them grow and develop into self-confident, successful, and productive adults,” Cardona said. “We invite our neighbors in the community to join us for a fun, family-friendly morning of bowling and help to provide mentors for children.”
Registration for Bowl for Kids is available at MentorGA.org/ibowl.html, and more information about the group is available at MentorGA.org or by contacting Cardona at 678-341-8028 or sylvia@mentormenorthga.org.
