SOUTH FORSYTH — Authorities said they have located a Forsyth County resident who had been missing since Monday.

Michele Ganyard, 50, was found safe Thursday morning in North Carolina after having last been seen at her home in southeast Forsyth.

According to Epifanio Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Ganyard’s husband called the agency about 9 p.m. Monday to report her missing.

She had no history of disappearing or running away and does not have record of mental illness, Rodriguez said.

Local investigators did not immediately know the circumstances of how she was found, just that law enforcement in North Carolina called saying they had her.

“They’re not sure if someone saw her and called 911 or if the police just ran into her,” Rodriguez said.

It was not clear where in North Carolina she was found, nor how she got there.

Rodriguez said criminal activity is not suspected.

Ganyard’s last known contact was a text to a co-worker about 9 a.m. Monday. According to reports, her phone and iPad were shut off immediately after that.
