Mixed-use project proposed for 60 acres on Market Place, Turner Road
Westshore development

A large, mixed-use development could be coming to Market Place Boulevard, but will first require the area be annexed into the city of Cumming.

The development, known as Westshore, is planned on 60 acres on the west side of Market Place Boulevard and the south side of Turner Road and near Ga. 400. Westshore is planned to include an urban center, multi-family apartments, townhomes and single-family living.

The proposed development by Atlantic Realty Partners, out of Atlanta, would include 638 residential units, 130 hotel rooms, and 251,000 square feet of office, medical office, retail and restaurant land uses.

The town center will include retail suites on the ground floor with residential units above.

The multi-family apartments will be in three-story units, and the townhomes will be two-story private residences with front-loaded garages in four- or five-unit clusters.

The single-family-units will also be two stories with front-loaded garages.

The project is expected to be completed by 2023.

The property is currently in Forsyth County but will need to be annexed into the city of Cumming and rezoned. Developers are submitting proposals to city officials.

Forsyth County District 5 Commissioner Laura Semanson, who represents the area, said she had only recently learned about the project and did not yet have enough information to comment.
