EAST FORSYTH -- Traffic was slowed to one lane of Buford Dam Road after a motorcyclist was injured in an accident on Friday morning.
Deputy Epifanio Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, said the bike’s rider was taken to an area hospital after suffering “serious, but non-life threatening injuries” in the crash, which happened about 9 a.m.
According to an investigator, the rider was thrown from his seat and slid about 65 feet, ending up underneath a truck in the eastbound lane “where he came to rest after making contact with components on the underside of the truck.”
Other cars were stopped in the eastbound lane, and the motorcycle reportedly started to skid when the rider “locked the brakes.”
The motorcycle came to a rest in a ditch off the roadway after sliding about 144 feet.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, and charges are not expected.
The southbound lane of the road was closed near Timber Lake Trail as officers worked the scene, which was reopened later that morning.
