LAKE LANIER -- The Fourth of July weekend has been calm on Georgia lakes so far, the Department of Natural Resources says.

The DNR reported no serious boating incidents or drownings Friday or Saturday statewide.

Saturday, rangers issued 15 citations for boating under the influence, bringing the weekend total so far to 27.

Three of Saturday’s BUIs were issued on Lake Lanier, and four total for the weekend.

Three boating incidents led to one injury, according to the DNR, while two incidents Friday also resulted in one injury.

“We hope for a great and safe night and a better day [Sunday],” said Mark McKinnon, the DNR’s public affairs officer.
