Forsyth County residents have a little over a week to name some of their top manufacturers.
Locals have until Wednesday, Nov. 14 to nominate small, medium and large manufacturers for the Manufacturers of Distinction and Leadership, or MODL, awards, a program hosted by the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce and South Forsyth Rotary Club.
The winners will be named in a ceremony at the Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Technical College on Dec. 5 and will be considered for state manufacturer of the year.
The event’s keynote speaker will be Thomas Martin with GLOBALT Investments, a registered investment adviser since 1991 and a division of Synovus Trust Company N.A.
The award ceremony will also honor three winners of the Forsyth County Schools’ Art Design Contest.
Last year’s winners were Metcam Inc., for small manufacturer of the year, Solvay Advanced Polymers for medium and Siemens Industry Inc., for large.
Metcam went on to be named manufacturer of the year this April by Gov. Nathan Deal.
“For an inaugural event last year, we knocked it out of the park,” said Robert Long, vice president of economic development for the chamber. “To have one of our winners go on to win at the state level was fantastic, and Metcam’s recognition was well-deserved.”
Tickets to the event are $20 for chamber members and $40 for nonmembers and can be purchased at CummingForsythChamber.org or by calling 770-887-6461. Tables of 10 are also available for purchase.
