Those concerned with stroke risks can take part in a free screening this week.
Northside Hospital Forsyth, 1200 Northside Forsyth Drive, will host a free stroke screening this Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the third-floor education center.
In a news release, hospital officials said residents could be at risk for stroke whether they are “a man or woman, no matter your race, in the prime of life or enjoying your golden years.”
The comprehensive screening will look at risk assessment, blood pressure, total cholesterol, glucose and a limited number of carotid ultrasounds and include a one-on-one consultation with a health care professional.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 795,000 Americans have strokes each year, or about one every 40 seconds.
Though the event is free, appointments are required and can be made at (404) 845-5555, Ext. 0.
