One dead following motorcycle wreck on Peachtree Parkway

One man has died after a motorcycle collided with a van at the intersection of Peachtree Parkway and Sharon Road early Saturday morning.

Gregory Smith, 64, from Duluth was pronounced dead at North Fulton Hospital Saturday afternoon from serious injuries sustained in the wreck, according to Cpl. Doug Rainwater, spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Rainwater said that at about 9 a.m. Saturday morning, Smith was driving a Harley Davidson Motorcycle northbound on Peachtree Parkway and struck a southbound 2016 Honda Odyssey turning left onto Sharon Road from Peachtree Parkway.

He said the area where the accident occurred is particularly dangerous and that the Odyssey failed to yield the right of way when turning onto Sharon Road.

Charges are pending for the driver of the Odyssey, according to Rainwater.

Rainwater said that both the driver of the Odyssey and a juvenile passenger were unharmed in the incident.
