One dead, one injured in 3-vehicle wreck
Woman pronounced dead at the scene

A woman is dead and a man suffered minor injuries following a three-vehicle wreck that occurred on Dahlonega Highway (Hwy. 9 north) at Punch Hammond Road in north Forsyth Monday afternoon.

Shortly after noon on Nov. 27, Forsyth County emergency personnel responded to an accident involving two passenger cars and a “large, box-style moving truck,” according to officials on scene.

While deputies are not yet releasing information on how the wreck occurred, the truck made contact with the driver’s side of a red sedan, which was being driven by an adult female, officials said.

“The driver of the truck was uninjured and the passenger of the truck had minor injuries; he was walking wounded and was transported with those injuries,” said Forsyth County Fire Department Division Chief Jason Shivers. “Unfortunately, the driver of the sedan died [on scene.]”

The driver of the third vehicle, a van, was not injured.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialist Unit (TSU) worked the scene, which closed Hwy. 9 north of Keith Bridge Road (Hwy. 306) for several hours Monday.

Deputies will release the cause of the accident and any additional information once the woman’s family is notified.

TSU investigates serious and fatal wrecks and will continue investigating.
