A teenager died and six other people, including a Forsyth County woman, were injured early Tuesday in a four-vehicle wreck on Browns Bridge Road near Gainesville.

The wreck, which happened about 9:05 a.m. at Montgomery Drive, began when one motorist crossed the centerline and struck another vehicle.

Gainesville Police Lt. Brian Kelly said preliminary investigation showed that a westbound 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Jason Greer, 33, crossed over and struck an eastbound Ford Escort.

The Escort was driven by 39-year-old James Daniel Mote. Traveling with him was his wife, Jennifer Dawn Mote, 35, and their 16-year-old daughter, Alicia.

Greer and the Motes are Gainesville residents.

After the collision, the truck rolled over, striking a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country van driven by Elaine Daughters, 48, of Cumming, Kelly said.

Daughters’ mother, 77-year-old Ellen Schwaemmle of Dawsonville, was a passenger in the van.

The truck continued rolling, striking a utility pole and coming to a stop off the road.

Before striking the utility pole, debris from the truck struck a 2001 Nissan Maxima driven by Jordan Buchannan, 18, of Gainesville, Kelly said.

Daughters and Buchannan were traveling behind Mote’s car.

All of the injured were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Alicia Motes died Tuesday night.

The most seriously injured person was the 16-year-old, whose name wasn’t available, Kelly said.

The road was shut down for about two hours.

No charges have been filed. Authorities have not determined why Greer’s truck crossed the centerline.
