NORTH FORSYTH — A 51-year-old Gainesville woman suffered critical injuries in a head-on collision Easter Sunday, authorities said.

Sheryl Muth was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center and rushed into emergency surgery after her 2013 Kia Forte crashed into a 2007 Toyota Camry on Old Keith Bridge Road, according to Epifanio Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Muth was reportedly traveling west and negotiating a curve while approaching Bayhill Drive about 1 p.m., the same time as the eastbound Toyota was passing the curve.

The Kia failed to maintain its lane and crossed over into the eastbound lane and into the path of the Toyota, Rodriguez said.

The driver of the Toyota, a 66-year-old woman from Gainesville, and her 59-year-old passenger also were taken to the hospital in Gainesville with non-life threatening injuries, according to Rodriguez.

The county’s sheriff’s office and fire department responded to the scene, which closed the road for about two hours.
