A 50-year-old Forsyth County man was killed and his wife injured when two pickup trucks collided Sunday afternoon on Hwy. 369 in northwestern Forsyth, authorities said.
According to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s report, Rick Michael Luter of Whitmire Road was pronounced dead at the scene.
His wife, 53-year-old Mary Jane Luter, was flown to Atlanta Medical Center, where she was treated and released, the report said.
The collision occurred about 4:05 p.m. on Hwy. 369 near Sexton Road.
According to the report, a 1994 Chevrolet 1500 driven by Ronnie George Pilcher, 36, of Gravitt Road was traveling west on Hwy. 369 when the passenger side tires left the road and Pilcher lost control.
The report said the truck skidded across Hwy. 369 and struck an eastbound 2004 Ford F-250 driven by Rick Luter.
Sheriff’s Capt. Tim House said Luter “attempted to avoid the collision by swerving off the roadway.”
“He ultimately, after the collision, lost control and went down the embankment, causing his vehicle to flip at least two times and land on its hood,” House said.
Pilcher, whose truck came to a stop along the roadside, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for medical clearance and a blood test, according to the report.
He has been charged with vehicular homicide in the second degree and failure to maintain lane.
The collision remains under investigation.
