Forsyth County firefighters spent a busy Friday evening running from one emergency to another as a series of strong storms pounded the county.

Although several calls of homes being struck by lightning were received, none of the houses received any significant fire damage, according to Captain Jason Shivers.

Firefighters were called to assist with several downed trees and power lines throughout the county.

Fire and Sheriff's officers reported sighting a funnel cloud in the air over the McFarland Road area, and residents reported seeing another twister on the ground in the Brookwood Road area, but no tornado damage was found.
