SOUTH FORSYTH — An accident in south Forsyth involving a pedestrian and one vehicle closed Atlanta Highway (Hwy. 9) at Strickland Road on Monday night.

Authorities said a medical helicopter was called, but cancelled shortly after the incident, which happened about 6:40 p.m.

The adult male, who was struck by the vehicle, was taken by ambulance to North Fulton Hospital in critical condition.

The circumstances surrounding the collision weren’t immediately available. Drivers were asked to avoid the area if possible.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Robin Regan said the road was partially closed while the investigation continued, with southbound traffic being redirected to the northbound lanes.

Vehicles traveling north were allowed to intermittently pass the scene.
