A 48-year-old woman died Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle in south Forsyth.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s Capt. Tim House said the incident occurred about 7:30 p.m. at McGinnis Ferry and Sargent roads, near Johns Creek and the Fulton County line.

House said the woman, identified as Suzanne Davies of Johns Creek, was walking along McGinnis Ferry when she was struck from behind by a westbound 2008 Jeep Wrangler.

The collision occurred as the driver attempted to turn left onto Sargent, House said.

He added that it appears the driver of the Jeep didn’t see Davies, who was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans, until she had been struck. The impact threw her about 45 feet.

"The driver of the Jeep stopped immediately and went to render aid to Ms. Davies," House said.

The woman was taken to nearby Emory Johns Creek Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

It had rained earlier Wednesday afternoon and evening, but House said the weather was not a factor in the incident.

The case remains under investigation, but he said charges against the driver are not expected.
