BUFORD — A person who was reported to have drowned has been found safe, according to Hall County Fire Services.

Emergency personnel responded at 6:51 p.m. to the reported drowning at Sunset Cove in Lake Lanier Islands, said Fire Marshal Scott Cagle.

At 8:20 p.m., Cagle reported the person had been found. "He is OK and was in another area.”

After an hour of searching, Hall County Fire Services Marine Rescue divers had halted their efforts and turned the matter over to the Hall County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division, Cagle said.

A man in his 20s reportedly entered the water at the dock, swam under it and was not seen again.

Cagle said officials had received some conflicting reports as to whether the man is in the water. He had also been looked for in the water park.

Other agencies on scene are the Department of Natural Resources, Hall County Sheriff's Office, and Army Corps of Engineers.
