EAST FORSYTH — A man who was rolled over by a pickup truck in the driveway of his east Forsyth home this weekend is expected to survive, authorities said.

The middle-aged man was apparently lying underneath the truck to work on it Sunday morning, according to Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers.

“It began to roll down his driveway, which was on a slight incline, and it did roll over his chest,” Shivers said.

The man sustained “significant, traumatic injuries” and was in critical condition when Forsyth fire personnel arrived at the home, which is near Young Deer Creek and Lake Lanier, east of Cumming.

Shivers said the responding unit “immediately made the decision to request” a helicopter ambulance. The man was flown to Atlanta Medical Center.

While local authorities have not received an update on his status since the initial incident, Shivers said it appeared the man was able to call 911 himself and make it to the front porch.

His “purely accidental” upper-torso injuries did not appear to be life threatening, he said.
