One person was killed in a single-vehicle wreck Thursday morning on Dahlonega Highway, Forsyth County authorities said.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and Forsyth County Fire Department responded at 10:50 a.m. to reports of a crash at Mason Tractor Company at 2510 Dahlonega Highway.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Angela Hernandez was driving north on Dahlonega Highway near Johnson Drive in a 2006 Ford Focus when it ran off the roadway, continued through a yard and onto the Mason Tractor Company property where it went through two fences and hit a concrete barrier and came to a stop, according to Cpl. Doug Rainwater, public information officer with the sheriff’s office.

Hernandez, a 28-year-old of Forsyth County, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Deputy Matt Kirk, a traffic investigator with the sheriff’s office.

The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office Traffic Specialist Unit.

This is the fifth fatal traffic incident in Forsyth County this year.
