The unclaimed remains of eight soldiers and airmen passed through Forsyth County on Tuesday morning en route to the Georgia National Cemetery in Cherokee County.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, the group met at 8 a.m. off Hwy. 20 at the Forsyth-Gwinnett County line and traveled through the square in downtown Cumming to Cherokee County.

The sheriff’s motorcycle unit helped with the procession, which was expected to disrupt traffic for a brief time as it made its way through the county.

Also participating in the effort were the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol and Georgia Patriot Guard.
