A Northeast Georgia Veterans’ Benefits Fair is planned for next week in Gainesville.

The event will help veterans with questions about claims, vocational rehabilitation and educational assistance programs, according to a news release from 9th District U.S. Rep. Doug Collins’ office, which is putting on the fair.

The Department of Veterans Affairs and Atlanta VA Medical Center will have staff on hand at the event.

"I have been on the ground with our troops in a war zone, and to call these individuals heroes is a drastic understatement," Collins said in the release. "... This inaugural event is a great opportunity for veterans in our area to receive individualized guidance and help, and I hope we can get the word out to make sure all our veterans can get the help they need."

The event is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Paul E. Bolding Post 7 at 2343 Riverside Drive.

Those interested in attending or anyone who would like more information, can call Collins’ district office at (770) 297-3388 and ask for Cindy Dyer or Lisa Simmons.
