If you haven’t had the chance to check out the Sawnee Association of the Arts new home at the City of Cumming’s Brannon-Heard House, the local art collective has several upcoming summer events they hope will energize the public about art.
On Thursday July 12, the Sawnee Association of the Arts (SAA) will host a soft opening of the Brannon-Heard House Art Center, with a new gallery of works by SAA members, a gift shop and a number of art classes taught by local artists, according to past SAA president Kris Weeden.
Weeden said that the soft open will be followed by a grand opening on Aug. 3, which will coincide with Cumming’s monthly Food Truck Friday event and may follow a ribbon cutting on the center.
Starting Thursday, Weeden said the art center will be open weekly for classes and gallery visits, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
The Brannon-Heard House can be found at 111 Pilgrim Mill Road in Cumming.
