The name says scarecrow, but there will also be plenty of dogs, cobbler, crafts and children’s activities Saturday during the second annual Bethelview United Methodist Church Scarecrow Festival.

In addition to crowning best overall, traditional and most humorous scarecrows, the event also will feature a cobbler baking contest and a doggy fashion show with prizes for costumes.

The festival will feature live entertainment, as well as vendors ranging from jewelry and candles to home décor and cosmetics.

Traditional fair fare will be on sale, including pork sandwiches, hot dogs, funnel cakes and nachos.

For children, there will be hayrides, door prizes, cake walks, story tellers, face painting and pumpkin decorating.

The Rev. Deborah Griffith said organizers are “hoping for the weather to hold out,” though the event will be held rain or shine.

“It’s just an all-around great day of fun,” she said.

The event is set for 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Bethelview United Methodist Church, 4525 Bethelview Road.
