BUFORD -- The search for a missing Snellville boater at Lake Lanier continues Tuesday.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the Hall County Sheriff’s Office will be using side scan sonar, with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office providing boat support.

DNR’s rangers were called to Cocktail Cove near Lake Lanier Islands to look for 57-year-old Jerry Kornmeier about 5 p.m. Saturday, according to a DNR news release.

They found his empty boat adrift in open water just outside the cove, according to DNR, and a preliminary search of the cove and its surrounding area didn’t yield results Saturday night or throughout the day Sunday.
