The Tea Party Patriot Alliance will welcome District 27 state Sen. Jack Murphy as its guest speaker Monday night.

The meeting, set for 6:30 p.m. at Central Park’s recreation center, will also feature Cole Simmons, a Dawson County High School student who serves as the national president of Future Business Leaders of America.

“There’s a common tendency for adults to think that kids aren’t interested in what’s going on, and this kid is just phenomenal with what he’s doing,” said Bob Frey, alliance chairman. “He’s deeply involved in business and politics.”

With the 2014 elections coming up, Frey said the forum will allow attendees to ask questions of Murphy, a Republican from Cumming.

“He is involved in legislation that affects every citizen in Cumming and Forsyth County,” Frey said. “The people need to know what he stands for and they need to vet him.

“As we move toward the primary season ... we’re going to try to do as much of this as we can to bring interesting [leaders] that people need to talk to.”

The meeting will last until about 8:30 p.m. For more information, call (678) 779-0873 or visit
