A pipe blockage at a south Forsyth home caused a sewer spill on Friday, authorities said.
According to the Forsyth County Water and Sewer Department, about 1,800 gallons of sewage spilled on the ground, and some gray water, or wastewater from household cleaning, reached a storm drain.
A plumber working at a home on Abingdon Place notified the county about the sewer backup Friday morning.
According to the department, a nearby crew “found rags and other debris causing a partial blockage.” Signs were posted at the site, and the area was cleaned and limed.
The spill is the county’s second this year classified as “minor” by the regulating agency, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division.
